2020 Heritage Greece® Program Application

The American College of Greece (ACG) is accepting applications for the 2020 Heritage Greece® Program, an experiential educational, and cultural program for Greek American students of college age, developed by the National Hellenic Society (NHS) and hosted in Greece by The American College of Greece (ACG).

This year, the Heritage Greece® Program will run in two sessions, as below.

Session I Dates : June 4-21, 2020

Session II Dates: July 9-26, 2020

Participants will attend a for-credit Greek language and culture course at ACG. They will experience the beauty and variety of Greece by visiting, together with a peer group of ACG students, beautiful locales, archaeological and historical sites, and points of religious interest. They will have the opportunity to take a Greek cooking class, learn Greek dancing, and experience an insider’s tour of significant museums.

Experience Hellenic heritage, tradition, and culture first-hand:

  • Tailored and transferrable one-credit language and culture course
  • Exciting and fun-filled field trips with on-site experiential learning
  • Modern, spacious housing at ACG’s state-of-the-art student residences
  • Tuition, meals, and transportation covered while in Greece
  • Classroom materials provided

Students meet in Washington, DC for an exciting orientation, which includes high level meet-and-greets with Greek American members of Congress and their staff, as well as other prominent Greek Americans on Thursday, June 4 (Session I) and on Thursday July 9 (Session II). The group will depart for Greece on Friday, June 5 (Session I) and on Friday July 10 (Session II). The NHS bears Heritage Greece® Program expenses and arranges for travel to and from Greece. Students bear $1,000 of the airfare expense and are responsible for their transportation to and from Washington, DC. (i.e. from the airport and to the hotel upon arrival). The hotel, meals, and other transportation expenses within Washington, DC are borne by the NHS.

Please note that siblings and first cousins of past and/or current participants who meet the program’s eligibility criteria are ineligible for an NHS grant and are responsible for all Program expenses. Applicants falling under this category should check the relevant box in the application form.
